The Ericsson Dialog is one of Sweden’s most iconic telephone designs. First introduced by Ericsson in 1964, its sleek, modern styling became popular around the world, with millions sold. The Dialog remained in use in homes for decades.
Designed with both form and function in mind, the Dialog represented a fresh approach to telephone design, combining a distinctive appearance with practical everyday use.
Among the unusual variants is this 1971 Clear Ericsson Dialog, a transparent field trial example believed to have been used for internal testing or demonstration. Its clear casing reveals the internal components, offering a different view of the familiar Dialog design.
This example was purchased from a telephone collector in Nasr City, Egypt. The photographs document the telephone as received, its internal components and identifying numbers, and the cleaned and reassembled set.
It is preserved in the Old Telephone Room’s personal collection of vintage telephones and telecommunications history.
