The 1971 Northern Electric 2236QC is a three-slot payphone manufactured by Northern Electric for public telephone service in Canada. Unlike older rotary-dial models, it uses a push-button keypad for touch-tone dialing. Its three-slot coin mechanism and telephone components reflect the design of Canadian public payphones during this period. The 2236QC is an example of Northern Electric’s coin telephone equipment from the early 1970s.
