This analog telephone was used in the Netherlands by the PTT (Post Telephone Telegraph), the former Dutch state-owned telephone company. At the time, there were three companies that manufactured phones for the PTT: Ericsson from Rijen, the Dutch Standard Electric Company from The Hague, and Heemaf from Hengelo. This phone was made by the Dutch Standard Electric Company from The Hague: the Standard Electric type 1954. The telephone was produced in December 1963. The design of the casing comes from BTMC (Antwerp) and is clearly derived from the somewhat older type 302 model from the U.S.
Tabletop model type 1954 is the official PTT designation.
The PTT also referred to the device as CE 54, according to a classification system that was in use for a while during the 1950s.
